BRADENTON, Florida, August 11, 2009 - After withdrawing from the French Open in May, IMG client Kei Nishikori was diagnosed with a stress fracture in his right elbow as a result of MRI exam by Dr. Altchek and he has continued his rehab for a complete recovery.

The pain in the right elbow, however, continued to exist, so he underwent endoscopy at the Nihon University Hospital in Tokyo on August 7th in order to determine the cause of the pain. As a result of its test, damage to the articular cartilage and inflammation of synovium were found, and then he underwent a small microscopic surgery to remove the inflamed synovium and the damaged cartilage. After this surgery, he needs rehabilitation for 6 - 8 weeks to recover enough to swing a tennis racket without the pain.

Therefore, Kei will not participate in the upcoming US Open at the end of this month. Kei Nishikori will continue his rehabilitation process in Japan, aiming to get back as soon as possible.
